A team of LE@D researchers participates in the multidisciplinary Tutor Virtual (TV) project coordinated by Professor Adérito Marcos UAb / CIAC and financed by FCT.
The project team is vast and consists of 23 researchers from several national Research Centers:
  • the Foundation of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (FFC / FC / UL); the Institute of Systems and Computer Engineering, Research and Development in Lisbon (INESCID / INESC / IST / UTL);
  • the Center for Research in Arts and Communication (UALG and ESTC / IPL) (CIAC); the Institute of Integrative Biosystems & Sciences (BioISI / FFC / FC / UL).Part of the team met at IST-Tagus Park to prepare for the first TV tests in the eLearning Platform.

Call for Papers Thematic Issue Digital Competences

The December issue of RE @ D is dedicated to Digital Competencies, a central theme on the agenda of the European Commission and the reform program of the XXI Constitutional Government of Portugal. As part of the theme, the European Commission has developed a sophisticated framework that has been disseminated and extended since 2013, the European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp). The Portuguese Government has launched, however, the “National Digital Competence Initiative e.2020 – INCoDe.2030”. This initiative, in turn, arises in a favorable school context, where the experience already acquired in the field reinforces the commitment of teachers to embrace projects of this nature. It is now up to academics and researchers to join the debate, extending it to its dimensions of practical, theoretical, scientific, pedagogical, organizational, strategic and political reflection.

It is for this reflection that the December issue of RE@ D calls for submissions. All submissions that contribute to a better understanding of the challenges at stake and to the construction of solutions to overcome them will be welcome. In addition to these, they will also be very welcomed, as they are less frequent in the literature, the submissions that address:

  • experiences of developing digital competences where the distinctions between competences and knowledge are clear and the transversal and multidimensional nature of the former;
  • theoretical, scientific, pedagogical, organizational, strategic and political reflections on the problem of digital competences;
    reflections on the benchmarks of digital skills, their potential, limitations, operationalization and transformation in innovative practices and change;
  • experiences and proposals for intervention that transcend the merely instrumental nature of digital competences and give clues about its cultural and emancipatory dimension.

LE @ D organizes the International Encounter of Augmented Reality Technology in Education

The LE@D | Laboratory of Distance Learning and Learning are organizing the International Encounter of Technology of Augmented Reality in Education – [RA] r 2018, on July 23rd, in partnership with the International Museum of Contemporary Sculpture of Santo Tirso (MIEC).

The initiative aims to provide a space for sharing and reflection around research, development and practices in the field of Augmented Reality applied in educational context, in Portugal and in Brazil.

Challenges to the integration of Augmented Reality technology into educational institutions, the development of Augmented Reality educational resources and the impact of Augmented Reality technology on teaching and learning processes are the main themes proposed for the debate.

Participation is free (limited to 50 places), but prior registration is required, so applicants should register by June 17th through an online form.
