  • Participation at the ICRE 2024

    From the 17th to the 19th of July 2024, the 4th International Conference on Research in Education took place at the University of Porto. The WAY project team was represented by researcher Andréa Lins, who presented a poster on teacher training for self-regulation of learning.

  • III WAY Seminar

    The III WAY Seminar took place on July 8, 2024 at the Camilo Castelo Branco School Group, in Famalicão.

    The seminar began with the opening session with Carlos Teixeira, director of the Vila Nova de Famalicão School Group, and Ana Mouraz, coordinator of the WAY project. Afterwards, researcher Thiago Freires presented a class entitled “The voice of students”.

    Two panels followed with project participants. The first consisted of eight students, moderated by Caroline Dominguez (UTAD) and Rui Fonte (UAb). The second, composed of five professors, moderated by Helena Silva (UTAD) and Artur Oliveira (UP).

    The day ended with an analysis and final comments from Albertina Oliveira (Faculdade de Coimbra), Ana Cristina Torres (UP) and Laurinda Fernandes (AECCB).

  • Participation at JURE 2024

    From June 24 to 28, 2024, the JURE 2024 Congress, a congress of young researchers from the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI), took place at the University of Seville, Spain, with the title “Education and the Need for Dynamic Solutions: Shaping the Future of the Field”. The WAY project team was represented by researcher Anabela Caetano Santos, having presented a communication about the results during the first year of the project, having stimulated a discussion about possibilities for improving the methodology.

  • Participation at the CiCEA 2024

    From June 13th to 15th, 2024, it took place at Malmö University in Malmö, Sweden, with the title “Education, citizenship and social change: building bridges”. In this colloquium, an oral communication was presented by researcher Thiago Freires, the voice of the students in the WAY project, considering reflections based on the data collected through the scripts and focus groups.

  • II WAY Seminar

    The II WAY Seminar took place on February 21, 2024 at Escola Secundária de São Pedro, in Vila Real.

    The seminar began with the opening session with Rita Mendes, director of Escola Secundária de São Pedro, Ana Mouraz, and Ana Cristina Torres, coordinator and co-coordinator of the WAY project. The project was briefly presented, as was data from the pilot project that preceded it.

    Then, a panel of teachers who are implementing the WAY project in schools presented some of the activities carried out and an analysis of the process. Participating in this panel were teachers Arminda Galas from the Ribeirão School Group, Graça Rocha from the Canas de Senhorim School Group, Márcia Alves and Olinda Fontes from the São Pedro Secondary School, and the panel was moderated by Daniela Pedrosa, a researcher in the WAY project. A moment of debate followed among the participants.

    Finally, Helena Silva, a project researcher, gave a talk on the relationship between critical thinking and self-regulation of learning.

    The seminar had participants in both in-person and virtual formats.

  • Participation in the XXXI AFIRSE Colloquium

    From the 7th to the 9th of February 2024, the AFIRSE International Colloquium: “Learning, Diversity and Equity: Research in Education” took place at the Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon. At this colloquium, two oral communications were presented by researcher Anabela Caetano Santos, one about the WAY project and the other about the validation of the motivation questionnaire and learning strategies for the Portuguese population.

  • Participation in the National Congress of the Portuguese Society of Education Sciences

    On January 11, 2024, online, a communication was presented about the teachers’ perspectives on the design and implementation of the WAY project, by researcher Artur Oliveira. This event was promoted by the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences – “Good Education at school: perspectives, practices and challenges”- with the aim of presenting, discussing and reflecting on Education, essentially at primary and secondary education levels.

  • Creative competition – Prize awarded to the winner

    The prize was awarded to the winner of the creative competition at the Canas de Senhorim School Group on November 15, 2023.

    The winning logo was proposed by student Sara Correia, who created it under the guidance of Professor Teresa Cardoso.

    As a prize for the competition, the student received a gift certificate for
    500€, delivered by the project coordinator, Dr. Ana Mouraz.

  • Poster presentation at the Science 2023 Scientific Meeting

    On July 5, 2023, the WAY project team was represented at the scientific meeting Ciência 2023 – Encontro com a Ciência e Tecnologia em Portugal. This is an annual meeting promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), which for the first time was held outside Lisbon, this time at the Aveiro University Campus, in Aveiro.

  • Face-to-face Meeting at The University of Porto

    The 5th monthly working meeting of the WAY team took place in person at the University of Porto on July 10, 2023. This meeting will present the results of the literature review carried out so far. It will rely on external consultants. In this meeting, the results of the literature review conducted up to this moment were presented. The work plan for the next year regarding training and intervention in schools was also introduced. Additionally, the meeting featured a presentation from the external consultants of the WAY project, Professor Dale H. Schunk and Professor Maria Katherine DiBenedetto.

  • MeetUp – Portuguese Open University

    The 2nd LE@D – Innovation and Science Researchers’ Meeting took place on May 26 and 27, 2023, in a hybrid format.

    The meeting aimed to promote reflection, debate and presentation of the production carried out in the scope of the Laboratory of Distance Education and eLearning (LE@D), both in terms of research and innovation projects carried out there and in the scientific production resulting from the activity of researchers and the advanced training integrated into it (masters and doctoral courses).

    On the 27th, a communication about the WAY project was presented, led by the coordinator and professor at the Portuguese Open University, Ana Mouraz.

  • Creative Contest – WAY Project Logo

    There is an ongoing contest to create a logo for the WAY project.

    Any elements of school groups and partner schools may participate. With this competition, the aim is to involve students and teachers in an artistic production initiative and obtain a new image for the WAY Project, to be used in all internal and external communication.

    The reception of submissions for the Contest will run until June 30, 2023.

    The winning project will receive €500 in a gift card. For more information, access the regulation.
