Thiago Freires is a researcher at the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE) of the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP), under an individual CEEC position (2022.06800.CEECIND). He holds a PhD (2019) and Master’s (2011) in Education Sciences from the University of Porto and a Degree in Languages (Portuguese / English) (2009) from the University of São Paulo.
In recent years, he has collaborated in several (inter)national projects focused on issues of formal education, including higher education. His doctoral research targeted School’s meanings, in light of educational paths of young people coming from contexts susceptible to vulnerable situations.
Currently, at CIIE, he is one of the coordinators of the Community of Research Practices (CoPin) IDEAFor – Identities, Democracy, School, Administration and Training. He is also a member of JEDI – Young People, Education, Diversity and Innovation CoPin. Morevover, he is part of the COST action GRADE (CA21141) – Grassroots of Digital Europe: from Historic to Contemporary Cultures of Creative Computing. He is a junior researcher in the Jean Monnet Network CitEdEV – Citizenship Education in the context of European Values and a member of the ERASMUS+ project DITE – Diverse Internationalisation of Teacher Education. Regarding teaching, he has collaborated in advanced training in the area of Education Sciences in curricular units of Research Methodologies, Scientific Writing and themes related to Public School, Teaching Work and Justice in Education.
