Uaiana Prates is a postdoctoral researcher in Education at the Laboratory of Distance Education and eLearning (Le@d) at Universidade Aberta. She is also a collaborating researcher at InED, the Center for Education and Innovation in Education at the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto.
She holds a PhD in Education from the Technology Enhanced Learning and Societal Challenges program at the Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon. She earned a Master’s degree in Education from the Federal University of São Carlos and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the Federal University of Pernambuco.
She has worked as a tutor for the Universidade Aberta do Brasil, the RedeFor project (Unicamp), and as a project supervisor at the Virtual University of São Paulo. She has engaged on continuing teacher training for the federal government’s project, the National Pact for Literacy at the Right Age (PNAIC). Her research has resulted in publications in the areas of teacher training, mathematics teaching and learning, communities of practice, teaching-oriented activities, and distance education.
