Uaiana Prates is an Invited Professor at Universidade Aberta (UAb), Portugal, and a researcher in the WAY Project (Who sAw You then and who sees you now) at the Laboratory of Distance Education and eLearning (LE@D-UAb).

She is also a collaborating researcher at the Centre for Research and Innovation in Education (inED), School of Education of the Polytechnic of Porto (ESE–P.Porto).

She holds a degree in Mathematics Teacher Education from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2008), Brazil, a master’s degree in Education from the Federal University of São Carlos (2011), Brazil, and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Lisbon (2022), Portugal. Her research experience focuses on Education and Technology, emphasizing the following areas: Distance Education, Education and Technology, Mathematics Teacher Education, Communities of Practice, Activity Theory, pre-service teacher education, and Initial Teacher Education.
