Josélia Neves is Full Professor and Associate Dean for Social Engagement and Access at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Hamad bin Khalifa University, in Qatar. In her career as a university teacher and researcher, she has led numerous collaborative projects in the creative industries – television, the cinema and DVD, tourism, museums and cultural venues, the performing arts – and education, to provide access to persons of all abilities.
She is considered a world-class expert in multimodal and multisensory communication and has published and provided training on topics such as subtitling, audio description, audio-tactile transcreation, accessible websites, multisensory experiences and in planning for change.
In Qatar, she has worked closely with Qatar Foundation, Qatar Museums, the Doha Film Institute, The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, among others, and led important initiatives to provide accessibility services to fans during the FIFA World Cup 2022TM.
She is a member of TransMedia Research Group, the European Association for Studies in Screen Translation (ESIST), and the European Network for Accessible Tourism (ENAT).
