The DIGITHUM project is a research group within LE@D – the Open University’s Distance Education Laboratory – in area 3 – Education and issues in the post-digital era. Its main objective is to develop research in the field of Digital Humanities.
The group was created in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, and the researchers and doctoral students who are part of DIGITHUM have presented several papers, participated in congresses and combined research with teaching activity, precisely on Digital Humanities, in master’s and doctoral courses at Universidade Aberta.
DIGITHUM essentially aims to promote initiatives in Digital Humanities, having recently presented the COMIDI project (Digital communication and image), which aims to identify the transformations that occur in the transition from digital to post-digital, focusing on digital communication and images.
With a focus on digital communication and image, the aim is to reflect on 4 specific domains:
– Interactive books: tales, legends, memories (material and immaterial)
– Digital genres
– Digital heritage: reconstitution, digital artifacts
– Artificial intelligence: paradigms of digital human-machine interaction
The DIGITHUM group is part of the CIPSH Chair on Digital Humanities in Education, which has been approved by UNESCO’s International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences.
The chair is the result of a partnership between NOVA FCSH, Universidade Aberta and the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto. For more information, see the relevant section.
